Installation
Step 1: Install from Shopify App Store
- Go to your Shopify Admin dashboard
- Navigate to Apps and sales channels in the left sidebar
- Search for "Shipto" in the Shopify App Store
- Click on the Shipto app listing
- Click Add app to install
- Review the requested permissions (order data, customer email, tracking information)
- Click Install app to confirm
Step 2: Authorize Carrier Network Access
After installation, you'll be prompted to set up carrier connections:
- Select primary carriers: Choose which carriers you use most. Shipto supports 1000+ carriers globally.
- Add API credentials (optional): If you use a specific carrier's API, you can add credentials for real-time tracking. Otherwise, Shipto uses our carrier network aggregation.
- Test connection: Click Test Connection to verify carrier access
- Save settings: Your carrier setup is now active for all future shipments
Step 3: Enable Tracking in Shopify
For each shipment you want to track through Shipto:
- Go to Orders → select an order
- Click Fulfill or Add tracking
- Enter the tracking number and select the carrier from our list
- Click Save — Shipto will now track this shipment
- The customer automatically receives a branded tracking email with your store's branding
Branding Setup
Accessing Branding Settings
- Open the Shipto app from your Shopify Admin
- Click Settings in the top navigation
- Select Branding tab
Logo Configuration
Logo URL: Provide a direct link to your store logo. This appears at the top of the customer tracking page.
Recommended: 400x200px PNG with transparency. Uses your Shopify CDN or external image host.
Color Customization
Shipto tracks your Shopify store's settings by default. You can override these colors:
- Primary color: Used for buttons, links, and highlights on the tracking page
- Secondary color: Used for status badges and accents
- Text color: Ensures proper contrast and readability
- Background color: Sets the tracking page background
Enter hex colors (e.g., #2F5E6E) or use the color picker. Preview updates in real-time below the form.
Email Template Customization
Customize the email subject and template that customers receive:
Email Subject
Default: "Your order is on its way!" — Customize to match your brand voice.
Email From Name
Sets the "From" field in tracking emails. Default uses your Shopify store name.
Tracking Page Customization
The tracking page is fully branded and appears on your store domain:
- Header: Shows your logo, store name, and navigation back to store
- Timeline: Displays shipment status updates in chronological order
- Carrier badge: Shows which carrier is handling the shipment
- Footer CTA: Optional upsell or cross-sell banner at the bottom
Configuring Tracking Page Behavior
Show/Hide Elements
- Estimated delivery date (pulled from carrier data)
- Carrier name and tracking number
- Store logo and branding header
- Customer support contact info or help link
Testing Your Branding
- Click Preview Tracking Page to see your branding live
- Use test order: You can generate a test shipment to see how emails look
- Check mobile view: Click the mobile icon in the preview to verify responsiveness
- Verify colors and logo render correctly
- Click Save Branding when satisfied
Notification Settings
Auto-Notification Configuration
By default, customers receive notifications at key shipment milestones. Configure which ones:
- Shipment confirmed: Sent immediately when tracking is added (recommended: ON)
- Out for delivery: Sent when carrier marks the package as out for delivery (recommended: ON)
- Delivered: Sent when delivery is confirmed (recommended: ON)
- Exception alerts: Sent if shipment is delayed or has issues (recommended: ON)
Opting Out of Notifications
Customers can opt out of tracking emails via a link in each email. This preference is stored in your Shopify customer record and respects customer consent laws.
Troubleshooting
Tracking not appearing
- Verify tracking number is correct in Shopify fulfillment
- Ensure carrier is in the supported list (1000+ carriers available)
- Wait 5-10 minutes for initial sync from carrier network
- Check Logs in Shipto settings for sync errors
Email not sent
- Confirm customer email address is correct in order
- Check if customer has opted out of notifications
- Verify Shipto app has permission to send emails (check permissions in Shopify Admin)
- Test with your own email address by generating a test order
Branding not showing
- Clear browser cache and refresh the tracking page
- Ensure logo URL is publicly accessible and returns a valid image
- Try using absolute URLs instead of relative paths
- Verify hex color values are in the correct format (#RRGGBB)
